Spring 2017 Newsletter

Happy Spring from the Bears Nest Studio. We were going to send this newsletter out earlier but just seemed weird to talk about our Spring show schedule when there was still snow on the ground around here. The last of it went just a week or so ago here in New York and the latest report from the Vermont studio is there’s still some in the woods, more than 100 inches on some of the ski mountains and serious mud season on the roads. For those of you not familiar with Vermont mud season just google it. You’re sure to get some hilarious pictures. Also, you will never ever drive on a dirt road in Vermont in the early Spring. Interesting Winter.

The good news, is that we had lots of indoor time to make new designs. Featured this Spring will be an adaptation of our Kumihimo braiding using metal rather than our traditional cord and beads. We brought out a few in our early Winter shows and they were well received. Hope you’ll come by to see them and our usual cache of unique designs and handmade beads from around the world.

Here is our schedule for the Spring:

Friday-Sunday , April 21-23
Sugarloaf Crafts Festival, Spring-Gaithersburg
Montgomery County Fair Grounds, Gaithersburg , Maryland.

Saturday and Sunday, May 20 and 21
Fine Arts and Crafts at Verona Park
Bloomfield Avenue, Verona, New Jersey

Saturday Thru Monday, May 27-29
Woodstock-New Paltz Art and Craft Fair
Ulster County Fair Grounds, New Paltz, New York

Saturday and Sunday June 10 and 11
Celebrate West Hartford Arts and Crafts Show
Town Hall Common, West Hartford Connecticut
Saturday and Sunday June 17 and 18
Spring Fine Arts and Crafts at Brookdale Park
Wachung Avenue, Brookdale New Jersey

If you can’t make it to one of these shows please visit our website at www.bearsneststudio.com.  We have a representative sampling of our many designs. If you don’t find exactly what you’re looking for send us a note. We can work with you to find what you want in our inventory or design it together with you.  Of course, if you are near our NY or Vermont studio let us know. We’d love to have you stop by and shop, work on a unique design, or just visit.

Hope to see many of you in the next few months.

Marie and Dick

Fall 2015 Newsletter

Well, our 2015 craft show season is rapidly coming to a close. Maybe the 45 degree temperatures and 20 mile an hour winds at our last outdoor show was a clue. Tough to demonstrate our craft when the fingers freeze up and it’s impossible to make jewelry with mittens, really!! The Vermont studio is shut down before the snow hits and the production staff has moved indoors for the Winter. Luckily we don’t have to pay them when they are hibernating. It’s in their contracts.

Thanks to all who visited us this season as we wandered around New York, Vermont, Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Jersey. We enjoyed seeing all of you and hope you are getting lots of compliments on the pieces we created for you. It’s important that all our “children” have a good home so thanks again.

There are still a few opportunities for you to visit with us before we hunker down for the Winter to make more interesting creations and new designs for you. We have three indoor shows remaining - you can find the details of each on the Show Schedule page. We hope you can make it to one of these great events. In addition, this year we are opening our studio by appointment so you can see all our designs, how they are created and hopefully get some truly unique holiday gifts. Call us at 518-674-7362 and we’ll find a time to have you come visit. We promise you’ll have fun.

Hope to see you at one of our remaining shows or at the studio. Be sure to check our web site too as we’ll be adding more items once the show tour is over. Thanks again for being one of our valued customers.
